“Every actor should subscribe to your Meisner workshops” ~ Nicci Topping
Discover more about us in Casting Director Nicci Topping's blog and two articles in The Stage: Top Tips and Short Courses.
The technique works progressively through a set of specific exercises which are designed to hone an actor’s ability to listen, respond truthfully, be emotionally available and be receptive to given circumstances and direction. It enables an actor to be less self-conscious and extend their acting range.
Many of the industry’s most gifted actors and writers have trained in and value the technique including: Jeff Bridges, Anthony Hopkins, Kathy Bates, David Mamet and the late Arthur Miller and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Our Introduction to Meisner establishes the first few exercises of the technique, gives a basic overview of our training and how it can benefit an actor’s craft on stage and screen.
The Core 6 Day Intensive course covers the full set of exercises, taking actors all the way through to text work.
After that we run weekly classes of Technical Gym and Scene Study in Leeds you can attend and any of the additional intensive courses we run in Manchester.
NB Professional actors (and those actively pursuing a career in acting) only.
“Go you! Great feedback from participants of your Meisner workshop – they’re keen to do more” ~ Matthew Xia (Royal Exchange)
“Brought me back to life after a decade of glazing over in West End ensembles”~ Aoife Nally, Actor – Sweeney Todd (Adelphi), Light in the Piazza (Leicester Curve)
"Stephanie is a magnificent teacher: warm, open and caring, challenging and supportive in equal measure. I wholeheartedly recommend her Meisner rooted actor training for anyone who wants to get out of their actor's head and (back) into their actor's gut!" ~ Lazlo Pearlman, Actor, Maker, Lecturer
"You never feel criticised or like you've done it wrong, even if your technique isn't perfect or you weren't completely in the moment. Adam makes it all about self-reflection as a tool to better yourself, but at the same time to realise most times your inner critic is irrelevant. I could wax lyrical, but, in short, if you're new to acting - try it. If you're new to Meisner - try it. If you're an old hat at it, it's always relevant." ~ Natalie Eagling, Actor
